Ministries

Now there are varieties of gifts, but the same Spirit;
and there are varieties of services, but the same Lord;
and there are varieties of activities, but it is the same God who activates all of them in everyone.

(1 Corinthians 12:4-6; New Revised Standard Version, Anglicized)

Eucharistic Visitor Training: If you are ready to be trained or are just curious about this ministry, Fr. John will be offering a class on February 5th and again on February 12th. You can come to either or both at 9:00 a.m. in the St. John Room. There are a number of parishioners who need us to be offering this ministry, which is also deeply rewarding for those who serve. Please give this opportunity some prayerful discernment and come if you are drawn.

Below are some of the ministry openings available at St. Elizabeth. If you are interest in any of them, please call the church office and we will get you in contact with the right person: (206) 243-6844.

Altar Servers

This ministry provides members of the parish with a true opportunity to
function as lay ministers by reverently assisting the celebrant during
Sunday Eucharist and at special liturgies throughout the year.

Lectors

Lectors proclaim the Word of God clearly and understandably so that all who
hear may respond.

Hospitality

All parishioners are invited to sponsor Coffee Hour after the Sunday Worship Service. Hospitality is an important part of the community at St. Elizabeth. Worshippers in our congregation connect over coffee and a nibble and hear the weekly announcements. Coffee hour also allows us to greet visitors and newcomers.

Musicians

The Ministry of Music provides music during Sunday Eucharist, holy days,
weddings, funerals and memorial services. Parishioners are invited to share
their musical talents with the rest of the congregation through this ministry.

Ushers

These ministers are sometimes referred to as Greeters. Being a welcoming
community is very important to us. Ushers are the first face of the parish.
They greet those coming into our church, offer assistance to those in need,
distribute parish bulletins, take up the collection, and distribute other
materials as needed.

Sunday School Teachers and Assistants

St. Elizabeth has a small but growing and vibrant Sunday School for children ages 5-10. Sunday School teachers and assistants are needed to support this vital ministry. All adults who work with children in the Sunday School classroom and beyond must complete the training program, “Safeguarding God’s Children,” which is offered regularly by the Episcopal Church.

We are an open-hearted, openminded community where people find healing, friendship, acceptance, and opportunities to discover and give their gifts to the world.
